There was a time when I was perky and young
There was not a rhyme that went unsung.
I loved to sing and dance in the rain
And go long miles in the chugging train.
With time I knew what it took to excel
There were books, friends and stories to tell.
Days were fun, nights were sweet
Back then, only birds let out a ‘tweet’.
Then came the twists and turns of life
I learned words like stress and strife.
Some days were good, some bad or sad
There was no time to go after the fad.
“You are what you are, you become what you do
There is no need to feel any blue
Just keep moving on with your smile.”
A wee little voice whispered awhile.
And then,
Love and goodness unfolded their arms
Ice-peaked mountains looked down on greener farms.
Over time, mother nature soothed me with her balm
There was little to show, but I was calm.
Peace flowed like brooklets in and around
Sweet words of love were the only sound.
There were some days that kept me on my toes
But they were the ones that bettered my pose.
When I stand and look back today
I see that I have come a long long way.
All that I now feel, is profound and deep.
But I have miles to go before I sleep.
Beautiful
