Ode to February

Ode to February

When love is in the air,

When birds sound loud after what seems so long,

When flowers bloom to break the winter dull,

When the world wakes in a different way,

We know, February has come knocking on our door!

When mornings seem different,

And so do noon and dusk,

It’s fogged during early hours,

With sunny moments breaking the lull,

Then we know, winter is packing its bags to go!

Thankfully, the cold remains,

But with the hope of new sunshine.

Old trees have young foliage to show,

Grey skies become clear and loom high,

And, we know, sweet fruits of labour await, all lined in a row!

Soon, it will be spring,

And flowers of many hues will find their soft breeze to sway.

Birds will chirp merrily through new leaves,

And then, the world will know, how my heart is ready to sing,

A new song, with a soft new ring!
