Being 50

Being 50

You can either lament and swoon,

I am alone in the morning and under the moon.

Or you can find serenity and peace all around,

What you tread on, is now your new ground.

The recipes you know are no longer upbeat,

Good; relax and make what you wanna eat.

YouTube knows how to cook,

They will not go hungry, thank god for that look.

Zinc and Vitamin C is no longer hip when you serve,

So you take your dose, they are also aware of the virus curve.

Turmeric milk, warm water and citric juices can remain in their raw form,

Just chill, they can also walk up to the fridge, we don’t live in a dorm.

Don’t look for nods when you know they can’t take your moods and whims,

Don’t wait for tomorrow to get the wind in your trims.

You have it in you to go for what you always wanted to do,

You’ve learned a lot, now is the time to enjoy those lessons and cues.

50 should be your new 20!

Create a pretty world with flowers, aromas and candles in line,

Play the soft music you want, chill with your favourite tea or wine.

Girl, you have done enough – for heaven’s sake- believe that to be true,

Now you have some life left, live it full and through.

Those in their 20s and 30s don’t know what you know,

Let them take their roads, you drive onwards on those that beckon you.

A lot is still left to see through the front windscreen,

The rear view mirror should also be used – but only to reflect your sheen!
