Ingredients

For the pie case

Marie biscuits – 15 pcs; crushed

For the chocolate filling

Sugar – 1 cup

Milk – 2 and ½ cups

Vanilla extract – 1 and ½ tsp

Butter – 3 tbsp

Cocoa powder – ½ cup

Method

  1. Mix the crushed biscuits and butter well and knead into a soft dough.
  2. Press evenly into a flan tin ensuring all edges are covered.
  3. Bake in a pre-heated oven for 5 mins at 170 degree.
  4. Keep aside to cool.
  5. Mix all the ingredients of the chocolate filling in a pan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly to ensure no lumps are formed.
  6. Cook till the mixture becomes a thick custard.
  7. Take off the fire and pour directly into the pie case.
  8. Sprinkle chopped walnuts or berries on top.
  9. Set in the fridge for 4-5 hours.

This delicious and easy to make chocolate custard can be used to make many other puddings. A biscuit pudding can be made or it can even be used as filling in a truffle cake. Even better, it can be stored in a refrigerator for 5-6 days. Do share with us your experience of making this pie in the comments section below.

During her novice days in the kitchen, cooking was more of trial and error born out of a desperate need to put something presentable on the table. Soon she learnt that cooking was as much an art, as a science.

Joya is extremely fond of baking and considers it therapeutic. Baking brings immense pleasure, particularly when she shares her cakes, flans, biscuits and desserts with family and friends. The smile on their faces is both calming and rewarding. Joya says that it’s like creating magic in her kitchen – she starts with some basic ingredients like flour, butter, sugar and eggs which transform into so many different delightfully sinful dishes. Baking is her go to and the secret ingredient is always love!
